2012 is named the "European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations".

Solidarity means all the more today than ever before and applies to our relationships as much as to our countries. Europe must embrace solidarity, and its citizens, all of us, must make sure that we stand by the ones in need and work harder to secure the future of all generations, be it the aged or the newly born.
